Browns Editorial:

Browns is a designer fashion Boutique based in London. It was founded by Joan Burstein and husband Sidney Burstein in 1970. Burstein is renown for her fashion expertise labelled as ‘Mrs B’ and thought of as the ‘fairy godmother’ of fashion. Burstein is credited with being the first to stock various huge labels such as Alexander McQueen, John Galliano, and Gareth Pugh as examples.  Burstein also acquired some of the biggest names in fashion, bringing them into the United Kingdom such as Giorgio Armani, Calvin Klein and Comme Des Garcons, the list is endless. Burstein is known for taking risks when it comes to fashion. “As a fashion buyer I will always take a risk” The store was located in London’s South Molton Street, however in 2015 Browns was acquired by Farfetch, an online fashion company.

Burstein’s ability and instinct to pick out the right brands allowed Browns to maintain its position at the forefront of London’s retail destinations. Burstein describes her approach. “We buy only pieces we like; we edit tremendously. If i feel that something is a little bit different, then I’ll take a small order. The designs must have handwriting”.  Unseen Footwear work exclusively with Browns to produce exclusive shoes for their boutiques. Working with browns is the pinocle for us.
